Myself & the Site
About the Site
As mentioned on the welcoming page, the Kaiserreich Factbook has been set up in the hope of providing a quality source of information, on Imperial Germany, as well as her allies in the Great War. Eventually the factbook will cover Political, Military, Economic and Social aspects of the four nations that it covers. The website is an apolitical one, this means that it does not endorse any political platform, and likewise myself, and those associated with this site are not nazis or right wing apologists. We are merely a group of individuals who have a passion for this period of history.
This website was inspired thanks to the efforts of Marcus Wendel and others on the Axis History Website and its attached forums. to whom I owe a great debt of thanks for all their assistance in supporting, encouraging, supplying materials and offering criticism for this website. Without the help and inspiration of these people, the Kaiserreich Factbook would have never gotten off the ground. Please refer to the "Thanks to..." page for more specific references to these people who have helped make this site what it is.
About Myself
As I've already indicated, my name is Gwynn Compton, and I live in New Zealand, that quiet little country best known for three things, sheep, rugby, and most recently, Lord of the Rings. I have recently finished a Bachelor of Arts, Majoring in History and Political Science, and I have now moved into the "real" world of five day weeks..
I've long had a fascination with history, and it was only over the last few years that I began specialising in the Great War and in particular, the Kaiserreich. I've found that it's been a rewarding shift in interest where there is plenty of information to still be collected and arranged so that more people can take an interest in this pivotal era of world history.
My other interests include Rugby, namely New Zealand Rugby and Welsh Rugby, I also enjoy cars and am co-owner of the New Zealand Modified and Performance Vehicle Forum, however that site has recently had a downturn and I haven't had the time I'd like to dedicate to it. I also enjoy spending time with my girlfriend, and my families seven cats (yes, seven cats).
My other main historical interests are modern Chinese
History (from the Republic till today), Roman History of the Republic
and Early Imperial Era, Byzantine History, World War II, as well
as New Zealand history. I also enjoy following politics both
international and local, and
keep a keen eye on current events.
